The Complexity of management in the conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The complexity of management in the conditions of Revolution 4.0, concerning both systems and processes in companies and other types of organisations, is undoubtedly one of the basic features of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It results from the growing importance of knowledge, information, automation, development of the Internet, and implementation of artificial intelligence.

It bears noting that the above features are, at the same time, the causes and effects of the complexity of management in the conditions of Revolution 4.0. That complexity is associated with both objective (measurable, computable) features of management as well as subjective and intersubjective (constructivist) factors.

Human-Machine Relationships

The human-machine relationship is still another area in which the effects of the complexity of management in the conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will have a significant impact. Given the excess information, and the practicability of organisational and management solutions, the complexity of those relationships will be essential for management.

The strategic goal of the research comes forward with a comprehensive analysis and assessment of the opportunities of applying concepts related to the complexity of systems in management theory and practice as well as the indication of selected areas and methods of their application.

How to enable effective management and decision making in complex conditions?

The expected deliverables will include a set of methods and a management standard to enable effective management and decision-making process in complex conditions, taking into account the context of the digital revolution and allowing for a deeper understanding of the complexity of management phenomena within the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The deliverables will be both theoretical (an explanation of the complexity of management within the Fourth Industrial Revolution)  and practical (elaboration of improved management methodologies).
